Intro:
Quick how-to guide to write a secret coded letter! Many guides exist on making secret ciphers; this is focused on actually printing the letter.

Step 1.
Use/make a text cipher. If you choose a cipher with symbols, be certain you can draw the symbols. For cipher ideas use Google or WikiHow (WikiHow recommended link). Whatever cipher you use, print it out and add the key to the letter for your recipient!
Step 2.
Draft out what you’re going to write. Write as succinctly as possible. Trust me, this is important! I can guarantee that drawing excess symbols/letters is the last thing you’ll want to do!

Step 3.
Write out your message in evenly spaced intervals.

Step 4.
Darken letters using a black marker. This is your template!

Step 5.
Overlay your template with a final letter paper. A transparent/thin paper is needed for this to work! Blank printer paper works well!

Step 6.
If needed, use a window to better see the template behind your final letter paper. Secure template to final letter with binder clips or paper clips, however, once you begin printing, you’ll easily be able to re-align the code to your template.

Step 7.
Begin printing code. Take your time and enjoy the final product! Don’t forget to add the cipher/decoder to your letter! (or an additional letter for security!)

When you’re ready to take it to the next level, turn your cipher into a custom font with https://fontstruct.com/
Or you can do it in Inkscape with these directions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KX-e6sijGE
